Batt Insulation

The proven choice for new construction and targeted insulation upgrades.

What Is Batt Insulation?

Batt insulation comes in pre-cut panels or rolls designed to fit between standard wall studs, floor joists, and ceiling rafters. Available in fiberglass and mineral wool (rock wool), batts are the most widely used insulation type in residential construction.

Fiberglass Batts

The industry standard — lightweight, affordable, and available in a wide range of R-values (R-11 to R-38). Modern fiberglass batts are formaldehyde-free and available unfaced, kraft-faced, or with flame-resistant foil facing. R-value ranges from R-2.9 to R-3.8 per inch.

Mineral Wool Batts

Denser and more rigid than fiberglass, mineral wool provides superior fire resistance (naturally fire-resistant up to 2,000°F), excellent sound dampening, and moisture resistance. R-value is approximately R-3.3 to R-4.2 per inch. Increasingly popular for its performance and sustainability.

Benefits

  • Cost-effective: Lowest upfront cost of any insulation type
  • Easy to inspect: Visual verification of coverage quality
  • DIY-friendly: Though professional installation ensures optimal performance
  • Fire resistance: Especially mineral wool — excellent fire barrier
  • Sound dampening: Effective at reducing noise transmission between rooms
